Host Program

Let’s show them what the Trojan Family really means!

The Host Program connects Keck School of Medicine of USC medical students with Trojan volunteers in cities throughout the country, as our scholars travel during the intensive residency and fellowship interview process.  The host may:

  • Provide our scholars with a place to stay during their interviews
  • Serve as a local mentor
  • Offer advice based on their experiences during the interview process as well as a perspective on the local medical community

As medicine is a field that is constantly evolving, the Host Program is a wonderful way to stay connected, engaged, and updated on changes at Keck School.  It also helps to ensure the Trojan Family is ever present in all communities, extending the reach of the Keck School of Medicine of USC throughout the country.

If you would like to participate or have questions, please contact Catherine Herrera, Director of Alumni Relations at (323) 442-1530 or cdherrer@usc.edu.

The Trojan Family is unique because no matter where we are, we can stand beside one another and proudly say FIGHT ON!

Shadow Mentor Program

How can you say no to one day of service!

The Shadow Mentor Program is a great way to connect with current Keck School of Medicine of USC medical students by allowing them to shadow you in your practice or research.  You decide how much time you can allot to the program.  You would provide our students with insight into the everyday business of being a doctor, help them gain valuable perspective, and help ensure their success.  And remember, it may be just for one day, but the students will remember it for a lifetime!

If you would like to participate or have questions, please contact Catherine Herrera, Director of Alumni Relations at (323) 442-1530 or cdherrer@usc.edu.

Represent what it means to be Keck School Alumni - committed to, engaged in, and supportive of the Trojan Family.

Parents Association

Dear families of Keck School of Medicine students,

I am happy to welcome you to the Trojan Family!

Our goal is to keep you informed about what is happening at the medical school. The Parents Association and I want you to stay connected to the Keck School. We will continue to provide opportunities and events for families to better understand and support their medical students’ experiences in the classroom, in patient care and hospital settings.

Providing students with scholarships enables us to further our mission of educating medical students and challenging them to become knowledgeable and compassionate physicians and scientists.  To date, the Parents Association has accrued a total of $65,000, toward our goal of $100,000 for endowed scholarship funding. We welcome you to support this initiative.  It is an excellent opportunity to provide financial assistance to our medical students in perpetuity.

I invite you to contact Catherine Herrera, Director of Alumni Relations, at (323) 442-1530 or email ksomalum@usc.edu with questions or to learn more about how you can get involved.

Sincerely,

George Stoneman, M.D. ‘65

Medical Faculty Family and Friends

Medical Faculty Family & Friends (MFFF, formerly Medical Faculty Wives & Friends) seeks new members who would like to meet and network with others while raising money for Keck School scholarships. MFFF was established in 1944 as a social group for wives of medical faculty at USC and has evolved over the years into a fundraising group that provides fun and interesting social activities to its members. Anyone with an interest in our mission is eligible for membership.

MFFF participates in the White Coat Ceremony each August, providing refreshments and assistance with fitting new medical students with their white coats. In the fall, we host the New Faculty Reception to welcome new Keck faculty members and their families to the Trojan family. In addition to monthly board meetings, we have two general meetings per year where we tour various Los Angeles treasures, such as Barbra Streisand's Malibu compound, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the Fairfax Farmer's Market area and the Virginia Robinson Gardens in Beverly Hills. Our most important event is the Annual Scholarship Dinner and live auction in March, co-hosted with Salerni Collegium, where we honor scholarship recipients and other students and faculty, while raising funds for the following year.
