Pacific AIDS Education and Training Center

The USC site of the Pacific AIDS Education and Training Center is one of 15 local performance sites located throughout the states of California, Arizona, Nevada, and Hawaii.

The Pacific AIDS Education and Training Center (PAETC) at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California offers HIV and AIDS education and training to healthcare professionals to keep busy providers up-to-date with the latest in HIV/AIDS treatment.

Mission

  • To prepare health care professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to diagnose and manage HIV-infected patients in underserved and vulnerable populations
  • To increase the numbers of trained health care professionals caring for patients living with HIV
  • To prepare health care professionals the skills to educate and counsel their patients to prevent the transmission of HIV
  • To respond to the needs of emerging populations and the changing face of the epidemic

Clinical Consultation Training

Working with providers to increase clinical competence through intensive on-site consultation training and through telephone consultation with providers.

Skill Building Workshops and Lectures

Building knowledge and skills through presentations especially designed for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and nurses presented at your site or clinic. Examples of topics include:

  • HIV risk assessment and prevention
  • Rapid HIV testing
  • HIV and Primary Care
  • Opportunistic Infections in HIV
  • Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP)
  • Secondary prevention of HIV
  • Medication Adherence
  • Women and HIV
  • HIV and Teens
  • Cultural Competency
