Associate Professor

Dr. Hill was born and grew up in England. He studied applied biology, biochemistry, and radiation biology at Brunel University in London, England, and at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva, Switzerland.  He earned a B.Sc. in applied biology in 1975 and a Ph.D. in biochemistry/ radiation biology in 1978 before commencing postgraduate studies at the Department of Energy ASO in Chicago. His postdoctoral work was completed at the Department of Radiotherapy at Rush Presbyterian - St. Lukes Medical Center, and at the Mammalian Cell Biology Group at the Argonne National Laboratory in Chicago.

Dr. Hill is a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Radiation Biology, and a reviewer for papers on radiation sciences and carcinogenesis for a number of oncology, biology, and physics journals. He is the author or co-author of some 86 published and peer-reviewed research articles on radiation biology and has presented over 100 papers at national and international conferences. His research interests include the effects of low-dose radiation, and the molecular processes underlying carcinogenic changes induced by radiation and other agents.
