How to Apply

The Center funds approximately 4 pilot projects each grant year, each with direct cost support of $20,000 plus chargeback-free services from the Animal Core. The project period is from January 1 to December 31. Each project will last 1-2 years.

Letter of Intent (LOI) Due: September (4th Monday) 
Application Deadline: November (2nd Monday)
Start Date: January 1

Eligibility
1) Junior faculty investigator without funding and with research interest in the Center's theme, "Elucidation of the mechanisms by which alcohol and risk factors sensitize and prime the liver and pancreas for diseases" or with an interest in basic or translational research on developments of new therapeutic and preventive modalities of cirrhosis, liver or pancreatic cancer;
2) Investigator with or without funding interested in transition to alcohol, cirrhosis, liver or pancreatic cancer research;
3) A project which leads to the development of a new collaboration on a common and comparative theme or a new system biology project among liver, pancreas, intestine, adipose and brain researchers;

LOI Instructions 

Include:
1) Proposed project title
2) Your eligibility (see above)
3) Project's central hypothesis
4) Brief description of specific aims

Application Instructions
Please use NIH PHS398 forms. Please do not use font size smaller than 11 points. If you are in doubt on how to complete these forms, please follow NIH guidelines. You do not need to obtain business official signature on the face page.

1) Original application + 7 copies
