Visiting Student Clerkships for International Applicants
International Visiting Student Season
International visiting students may apply for clerkships during the months of January, February, March, April, May, November or December.
The Keck School of Medicine provides clinical rotation opportunities for a limited number of visiting international students from our affiliated institutions, LCME accredited Canadian Institutions, and select GHLO participating institutions. International medical students from the following institutions only may be accepted to participate in clinical rotations at the Keck School of Medicine.

International Visiting Student Requirements
In order for a medical student to be placed in a rotation, the following criteria must be met:
- The applicant must be a final-year medical student.
- The applicant must be a student at one of the institutions listed above.
- The applicant must be in good standing at their home institution.
- The applicant’s file must be complete.
Tuition & Fees
- If accepted, the student must pay $500 tuition per elective.
- If accepted, the student must pay a $25 malpractice fee.

Affiliates of the Keck School of Medicine of USC and LCME Accredited Canadian Institutions:
If your home institution is an Affiliate of the Keck School of Medicine of USC, or an LCME Accredited Canadian Institution, you must complete the application at this link: https://keck-admit.hsc.usc.edu/VisitingClerkship/UserLogin.cfm and mail the following in order to apply for a clinical elective:
- Official medical school transcript.
- Letter of Good Standing from your medical school. It must include the following:
- A statement that you are a final-year student in good academic standing, eligible for the elective.
- Verification of health insurance.
- Curriculum Vitae
*Upon conditional acceptance, additional documentation and trainings will be required to be completed by the student prior to the start of their clerkship.

Housing & Transportation
Please note that the Keck School of Medicine is unable to provide or arrange housing, board or travel expenses. No stipend is provided during this clerkship. Although we do not offer formal housing Visiting Student Guide.
