Philanthropist Deborah Lanni (pictured here center), president of the Lanni Family Charitable Foundation, held a special reception at her home to honor Stephen Gruber (right), director of the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Heinz-Joseph Lenz (left), associate director for clinical research and co-leader of the Gastrointestinal Cancers Program at the Cancer Center, on Oct. 7.

Both physicians spoke to attendees at the reception about the latest updates in cancer research and treatment.

Lanni, who is a member of the Keck School of Medicine of USC Board of Overseers, is the widow of former Keck School Board of Overseers member Terry Lanni, who passed away in 2011. She also received a bachelor of science degree from USC in Sociology in 1970 and worked for nine years in USC’s University Affairs Office.
