School of Medicine Graduate Student Association
All graduate students enrolled at the Keck School of Medicine are eligible to join the SMGSA, a student-run organization based at the Health Sciences Campus. The SMGSA is comprised of an elected board of officers as well as department representatives. SMGSA officers participate in the governance of the Keck School as members of the Executive Council and in the running of the Keck School graduate programs as members of other boards and committees.
Through its meetings and discussions, the SMGSA provides a forum for graduate students and is the student political voice in dealings with faculty and the administration. The SMGSA uses student program fees to sponsor activities, which include scientific poster sessions and other professional opportunities as well as social events. The SMGSA also makes portions of these funds available to graduate program departments for student events.
