Education & Training
The graduate programs emphasize rigorous research training in biochemistry and molecular biology. The five major program areas are gene regulation, developmental biology, cancer biology, molecular basis of disease, and gene therapy. The atmosphere among students and faculty is one of open informality fostered by a pleasant working environment and state-of-the-art research facilities. The faculty, advanced graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and technical staff working in the research laboratories, provide a constant source of support and guidance for all the students.
The supportive environment and relatively small size of the Department enable faculty to maintain close contact with students, in order to nurture professional and intellectual development. Recent graduates from the Ph.D. program have successfully obtained post-doctoral positions in some of the nation’s best laboratories, faculty appointments and positionsT in government and industrial research laboratories throughout the world.
