LAC+USC Emergency Medicine Residency Program
The emergency medicine residency at LAC+USC is a dynamic, intensive, four year training program (PGY1-4). It is geared toward producing emergency physicians of a consultant level, ready to pursue a growing number of career pathways within the specialty. The department has established itself as a center for innovation in emergency medicine education and is unique in its philosophy of teaching the special skills that our specialty requires. The curriculum is progressive and innovative, ensuring a solid foundation in the full breadth of the specialty while still providing each resident the flexibility to pursue their own individual goals.
Since its inception in 1971, over 600 physicians have graduated from our program – the largest alumni body of emergency medicine specialists both in the United States and internationally. Our graduates have excelled in every aspect of the field, and are well represented in academic medicine, subspecialty practice, community leadership, and public service.
The most important feature of a training program is the competence and quality of its graduates. Upon completion of the program, our graduates gain an expertise and comfort level in managing the most difficult cases that can present to an emergency department – one that we feel is unparalleled.
