Office of Emergency Management
“Resources, training, and research for all hazards”
Welcome to LAC+USC Medical Center’s Office of Emergency Management homepage. The OEM is a disaster preparedness program under the leadership of the Department of Emergency Medicine. Our mission is to equip our facility with resources, training, and research for all-hazards disasters. Located at the crossroads between an overpopulated city and its many potential hazards, this Los Angeles County Disaster Resource Center, has been and continues to be the community’s sanctuary for emergency care.
The OEM also provides leadership, support, and planning as a Burn Resource Center, equipped with Surge Capacity capabilities, and multiple modes of communication within the LA County Disaster Resource Network. Housed in what used to be the infamous “1350 ER” the OEM has converted this historic department into a Disaster Training Center. Soon to be included as part of the Southern California Regional Simulation Center the location is an ideal training environment for the first receiver who must manage a surge of disaster victims within a real hospital setting.
