Dr. Pepper specializes in reconstructive surgery of the face, in particular the restoration of movement to the paralyzed face. He has published many detailed descriptions of facial plastic surgery, including the reconstruction of the face after skin cancer removal, facelift techniques, and rhinoplasty techniques, among others.

He completed both his residency and fellowship at the University of Michigan, and was honored to receive the top board score in the nation on the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery examination in 2013. For this accomplishment, he was given the Jack R. Anderson Award for Scholastic Achievement.

His research seeks to harness the power of skin-derived stem cells to improve the treatment of facial paralysis. He is also exploring the role of novel electrical stimulation protocols in speeding recovery after facial nerve injury. He has conducted award-winning research at Stanford, Harvard, Michigan and the National Institutes of Health, and has several active research grants that support his work. Dr. Pepper’s goal is to bring together his experience and expertise on his patient’s behalf, and to do so in a caring and understandable manner.
