Overview

Cecily Jenkins, PhD is a licensed clinical neuropsychologist with expertise in cognitive assessment of older adults developed over more than 20 years in University of California, San Diego’s Department of Neurosciences. As Director of the Memory in Aging Project (MAP) and Memory Screening initiatives within the NIH funded Shiley-Marcos Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC), Dr. Jenkins led the effort to strengthen academic-public research partnerships in the San Diego community. Her outreach programs offered public education about memory research, brief cognitive assessment for older adults concerned about memory decline, and open discussion about collaborative participation in scientific research. At UCSD Dr. Jenkins was also instrumental in establishing rigorous training standards for study personnel collecting cognitive data in research trials of disease-modifying interventions for pre-clinical and symptomatic Alzheimer’s Disease and in overseeing quality review of this data within the Alzheimer’s Disease Cooperative Study (ADCS). In her current position as Director of Neuropsychology for the USC Alzheimer’s Therapeutic Research Institute (ATRI) Dr. Jenkins advises the team about optimal methods and metrics for assessing human cognitive behavior in clinical studies and leads ATRI affiliated personnel and academic/industry partners in matters of quality cognitive data capture, monitoring, and reporting.
