Maria Hernandez, MD

Maria Hernandez (Psychology) holds a PhD in Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley – School of Social Work. Prior to her appointment as a postdoctoral scholar at USC, Hernandez was a postdoctoral scholar at the University of California, Davis – Center for Reducing Health Disparities (CRHD). Her research interests relate to the application of digital knowledge to improve health policy, community interventions, and health system strategies to strengthen mental health literacy among Latino subgroups. While at USC, Hernandez plans to attain advance training in the use of informatics and mobile health technology to further her research in how consumer health informatics can increase mental health literacy among patients with serious mental illnesses.
