The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery provides patients with exceptional medical care for a wide range of orthopaedic disorders, with expertise in sports medicine, joint preservation and replacement, musculoskeletal oncology, spine care, fracture and trauma care, and foot, ankle and hand surgery.

Back and Neck Pain

Back and neck pain, which can be caused by various conditions including injuries, is treated in the USC Spine Center.

Sports-related injuries are treated by leading experts in the USC Sports Medicine Center.

Professional dancers, musicians and other performers experiencing back and neck pain are treated in the USC Performing Arts Medicine Center, which is staffed by experts focused on returning patients to their craft.

Elbow

Athletes and weekend warriors experiencing pain from conditions affecting the elbow, such as tennis elbow and biceps tendon tears at the elbow can seek treatment in the USC Sports Medicine Center. Our sports medicine experts are skilled in the replacement and reconstruction of the elbow.

The USC Hand Center can treat a variety of conditions of the upper extremities including carpal tunnel syndrome, fractures, wrist injuries and complex brachial plexus injuries affecting the elbow.

Foot and Ankle

Foot and ankle injuries, including stress fractures and ankle sprains, are treated in the USC Foot and Ankle Center. Our experts specialize in minimally invasive Achilles tendon repair, a procedure not widely available in the community.

Fracture and Trauma

The Trauma and Fracture Care Center treats simple and complex fractures of all parts of the body, except the hand and spine. Fracture and Trauma surgeons specialize in fractures that do not heal or heal out of proper alignment, deformity correction and microvascular reconstruction.

Hand fractures and trauma are treated in the USC Hand Center.

Fractures of the spine are treated in the USC Spine Center.

Hand

The USC Hand Center team specializes in upper extremity reconstruction, reconstructive replantation of the upper extremity, and vascularized bone and functional muscle transfers. Common conditions treated include carpal tunnel, trigger finger and fractures.

Tumors present in the hand are treated in the USC Musculoskeletal Oncology Center.

Professional musicians seeking care for a hand injury are treated in the USC Performing Arts Medicine Center.

Hip

Conditions affecting the hip such as arthritis, hip impingement, and osteonecrosis are treated in the USC Joint Preservation and Replacement Center, which specializes in conservative management of these conditions as well as total hip replacement and hip resurfacing.

Hip injuries related to physical activity are treated in the USC Sports Medicine Center.

Hip injuries specifically related to performers of all kinds, such as hip labral tears, found commonly among dancers, are treated in the USC Performing Arts Medicine Center.

Tumors present in the pelvis are treated in the USC Musculoskeletal Oncology Center.

Joint Preservation

The USC Joint Preservation and Replacement Center prides itself in the ability to provide the appropriate level of care for each specific condition, focusing on joint preservation of the hip and knee whenever possible.

Experts in the USC Sports Medicine Center, who treat sports-related injuries in the shoulder, knee, hip, elbow and neck, specialize in cartilage restoration and preservation.

Joint Replacement

Our orthopaedic surgeons treat conditions conservatively, only replacing joints when necessary. The USC Joint Preservation and Replacement Center is staffed with among the most experienced surgeons in the region for the both total and partial replacement of the hip and knee.

Surgeons in the USC Sports Medicine Center are leading experts in shoulder and elbow replacement and reconstruction.

Knee

Conditions affecting the knee such as arthritis and osteonecrosis are treated in the USC Joint Preservation and Replacement Center, which specializes in conservative management of these conditions and partial and total knee replacement surgery.

Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), collateral ligament and meniscal tears and other common sports injuries to the knee are treated in the USC Sports Medicine Center. Musculoskeletal Tumors

The USC Musculoskeletal Oncology Center at Keck Medicine of USC in Los Angeles offers comprehensive care for the treatment of rare and complex musculoskeletal tumors. Despite the rarity of these tumors, our center is active, high-volume and staffed by a very experienced team who offer a wide variety of options in the treatment of these conditions.

Shoulder

A wide range of conditions affecting the shoulder including joint pain, arthritis, frozen shoulder and labral tears are treated at the USC Sports Medicine Center. Our sports medicine experts are skilled in the replacement and reconstruction of the shoulder.

As leading authorities in reconstructive surgery, the USC Hand Center can treat complex brachial plexus injuries.

The USC Sports Medicine Center specializes in treating sports-related and recreational injuries affecting the knee, shoulder, hip, elbow, arms and legs. Our surgeons in the USC Sports Medicine Center are leading experts in the management of ligament injuries, cartilage repair, rotator cuff repair, total shoulder and elbow replacement. Our clinicians are team physicians for the USC Trojan intercollegiate teams.
