Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
About the Department
The department plays a key role in USC’s healthcare system by developing and teaching best practices and serving the diverse and often underserved patients and communities of Los Angeles through interdisciplinary and inter-professional collaboration, teamwork and shared models of excellence in care.
With our expansive, world-class research programs, department faculty members maintain particular strengths in psychiatric genetics, clinical treatments and health services research.
Our educational programming features internationally known leaders in curriculum, evaluation, research and teaching methodology. Faculty members are committed to the best possible educational experience for students, residents, fellows and other trainees — and are dedicated to their development as clinicians, teachers, researchers and leaders.
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences has a long record of providing excellent clinical services to the residents of Los Angeles County.
Clinical services are a fundamental part of our academic and training missions. We work in close collaboration with Keck Medical Center, the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, the Veterans Affairs Sepulveda Ambulatory Care Center and many community partners.
