Department of Anesthesiology
About the Department
Anesthesiologists specify the stress of surgery distinctive to each patient and then develop a tailored anesthesia care plan that maximizes the patient’s safety intraoperatively while minimizing the patient’s post-operative recovery period. We deliver highly specialized anesthesia services that match the acute clinical needs of our patients, surgical/specialist colleagues and new clinical programs.
Clinical ActivitiesThe Department of Anesthesiology supports not only the busiest penetrating trauma service in the United States, but also the clinical activities of Keck Hospital of USC which receives Medicare’s highest clinical severity index of all academic centers in the state. The complexity and diversity of available clinical services provides the department with one of its most compelling recruiting advantages.
The department supports clinical activity in the following areas: cardiac, critical care medicine, neuroanesthesia, obstetrics, orthopaedics, pediatric, pain medicine, transplant, thoracic, trauma and urology.
