December Faculty Development Workshop: Prompt Engineering 101 – Using AI Chat Tools Optimally for Your Medical Education Needs with Dr. Jacob Schreiber and Matthew Nation

Join us online for the December Faculty Development Workshop: Prompt Engineering 101 – Using AI Chat Tools Optimally for Your Medical Education Needs with Dr. Jacob Schreiber and Matthew Nation on Tuesday, December 16, 5-6 pm.
SUMMARY
AI tools present exciting opportunities for innovative educators seeking to enhance their teaching, curriculum design, and assessment practices. Tasks that once required hours of drafting can now be accelerated and refined with the help of AI tools. However, educators must use these tools mindfully, applying best practices to ensure the accuracy, transparency, and reliability of AI-assisted outputs.
This hands-on workshop will introduce systematic methods of engaging AI chat resources through effective prompt engineering and tailoring. Participants will first reflect on established approaches to core educational practices such as crafting syllabi, learning outcomes and objectives, and formative assessments. Then, they will explore strategies for structuring prompts that align with these approaches, practicing how to iteratively refine AI outputs to produce useful, credible, and verifiable results that support their work as medical educators.
