Dr Joseph graduated from Cambridge University in 2005 and completed his medical education at Oxford University in 2008. He completed internal medicine and cardiology training in prestigious programs in England. He was awarded a competitive clinical research fellowship grant to undertake invasive physiology research which he performed at St Thomas’ Hospital in London, UK which resulted in the award of a PhD whilst also learning interventional cardiology under the guidance of Prof Simon Redwood. He then completed a two-year advanced interventional and structural fellowship at Oxford University Hospitals in Oxford, England under the leadership of Prof Adrian Banning. Following this, he was recruited to Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California in 2020 where he underwent further advanced training in structural heart interventions – performing a large number of transcatheter aortic, mitral and tricuspid valve replacements and repairs with both commercially available and emerging research devices, before joining Keck Medical Center of USC in 2022.
Dr Joseph is an Interventional Cardiologist with specialized clinical and research interests in structural heart disease, particularly transcatheter valve therapy. He has a large volume of expertise in transcatheter aortic, mitral and tricuspid replacement, percutaneous mitral valve repair, left atrial appendage occlusion, PFO/ASD/VSD closure, paravalvular leak closure, alcohol septal ablation and cerebral protection. He is a clinical investigator in ongoing national multi-center research studies and clinical trials and has co-authored numerous peer reviewed, scientific articles and book chapters. He has research interests in cardiovascular physiology, microvascular dysfunction, structural heart disease and emerging transcatheter therapy devices. Dr Joseph speaks regularly at major national and international cardiology meetings.
