Education & Training

The Center for GEMS collaborates with experts across the Keck School of Medicine and USC to provide trainings and education to Keck School departments on a variety of topics, including: implicit bias, upstanding, allyship, LGBTQ+ health, and other topics of interest. Inclusion Resource Groups (IRGs)
The Center for GEMS is a proud co-sponsor of the Inclusion Resource Groups (IRG) Program, (also sponsored by JEDI-WeST (Justice through Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Well-being and Social Transformation). The mission of the IRG Program is to foster and advocate for an inclusive campus community that celebrates our diversity and intentionally contributes to a sense of belonging and being valued. Climate Survey
A culture survey for the Keck School was conducted by USC’s Institute for Intersectionality and Social Transformation (USC-IIST) in Fall 2022. GEMS co-sponsored the survey with JEDI-WeST – Learn more here.

Community Engagement

NASEM Action Collaborative  on Preventing Sexual Harassment in Higher Education
USC is a founding member of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) Action Collaborative on Preventing Sexual Harassment in Higher Education. Recognizing the widespread impact of sexual harassment throughout academia, this NASEM collaborative is charged with finding ways to prevent sexual harassment at all levels and in all disciplines, taking an active approach to effect genuine systemic change through policies and practices.
