Description: The STAR Program is a collaborative effort between USC and Francisco Bravo Medical Magnet High School to prepare and inspire high school students — particularly underrepresented minorities — to pursue careers in life sciences, biomedical engineering and biotechnology. High school students perform meaningful research under the mentorship of USC faculty and graduate students at labs on both the University Park and Health Sciences campuses. As of 2018, the program is in its 11th year and has graduated more than 600 students.

When: STAR students are expected to participate in lab from 1-3 pm every school day. Mentors will keep their normal schedules.

Accepting Volunteers:Yes — Open to faculty and graduate student mentors from any USC research group who are interested in hosting a STAR student in their lab
