The Student Practice Profile (SPP) underpins our integrated curriculum by giving students the opportunity to experience a collection of diverse clinical cases that represent the most common and/or most important clinical presentations and problems encountered regionally in the LA County area and in the U.S. today.

The Student Practice Profile (SPP) is a novel stratagem that lies at the core of an effort to orient the educational program at the Keck School of Medicine towards an integrated basic science and clinical curriculum that is directly relevant to the clinical competencies and scope of practice expected in a newly graduated physician. The SPP creates an “overarching principle” that governs the form and content of the curriculum, enhances clinical relevance, serves as a criterion to measure the relevance of exam questions to curriculum content and assures competency of knowledge and experience in basic and clinical sciences.
