Visiting Student Clerkships for International Applicants
International Visiting Student Season
For academic year 2022-2023, we will accept students for one 4-week rotation during October 2022-December 2022 and March 2023-May 2023.
Eligible Institutions
The Keck School of Medicine of USC provides clinical rotation opportunities for a limited number of visiting international students from our affiliated institutions, LCME accredited Canadian Institutions, and select VSLO participating institutions. International medical students from the following institutions only may be accepted to participate in clinical rotations at the Keck School of Medicine of USC.

International Visiting Student Requirements
In order for a medical student to be placed in a rotation, the following criteria must be met:
- The applicant must be in their final year of medical school.
- The applicant must be a student at one of the institutions listed above.
- The student must provide TOEFL scores and/or pass an interview screening.
- The applicant’s file must be complete.
Keck School of Medicine and individual department requirements must be met.
Tuition & Fees
- If accepted, the student must pay $500 tuition.
- If accepted, the student must pay a $25 malpractice fee.
Application Process
Select VSLO Institutions:
If your home institution is one of the VSLO participating institutions listed above, please apply through VSLO: https://students-residents.aamc.org/.
Affiliates of the Keck School of Medicine of USC and LCME Accredited Canadian Institutions:
If your home institution is an Affiliate of the Keck School of Medicine of USC, or an LCME Accredited Canadian Institution, you must complete the application at this link: https://keck-admit.hsc.usc.edu/VisitingClerkship/UserLogin.cfm and mail the following in order to apply for a clinical elective:
- Official medical school transcript.
- Letter of Good Standing from your medical school. It must include the following:
- A statement that you are a final-year student in good academic standing, eligible for the elective.
- Verification of health insurance.
- Curriculum Vitae
*Upon conditional acceptance, additional documentation and trainings will be required to be completed by the student prior to the start of their clerkship.

Housing & Transportation
Please note that the Keck School of Medicine is unable to provide or arrange housing, board or travel expenses. No stipend is provided during this clerkship. Although we do not offer formal housing, please view our Visiting Student Guide for more information on housing and transportation.
