Overview

Desiree Lie, MD, MSED, a graduate of Cambridge and Oxford Universities, England, is currently Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine, serving as faculty facilitator for scholarship at the USC PA Program and course director for the Professionalism and the Practice of Medicine course. She was Professor of Family Medicine at the University of California, Irvine for 22 years. Over the past 12 years, she has focused her curricular and educational research on implementation and assessment of cultural competency training and health literacy as well as integrative medicine and the Medical Humanities, publishing over 80 papers in educational research on validation of test and assessment tools, curricular innovation, inter-institutional and interdisciplinary collaboration and case-based teaching to make teaching relevant to practice. She is an advocate for reflection in practice, service learning, cross-cultural communication and care of the underserved. She serves on numerous national advisory committees, the editorial board of Medscape as well as being a CME author, and participates on grant review panels and as a manuscript reviewer for diverse journals. She is committed to advancing quality in education through interprofessional engagement.
