Dr. David Hong is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. He speaks Korean and Spanish fluently and practices at Keck Medicine facilities in Buena Park and Koreatown.
Dr. Hong is very familiar with Southern California having grown up in Orange County. A graduate of Troy High School, he earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of California, Riverside before attending the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. During medical school he was awarded a Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellowship for work in the personalization of therapy for lung cancer patients performed at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center under mentorship of Dr. John Minna. He completed a transitional year internship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and radiation oncology residency at New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. He received elective post-doctoral training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and with the University of California, San Diego Department of Radiation Medicine and Applied Sciences.
Dr. Hong treats all sites for adult patients and has extensive experience with advanced technical approaches and a well-developed interest in patient safety and quality improvement. Dr. Hong is a member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) State Captain Initiative, Practice Accreditation Committee, and Payer Relations Subcommittee, as well as the Big Data Subcommittee of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM). Dr. Hong has expertise in clinical informatics and is a collaborator in ASTRO/AAPM’s efforts to develop what is known as the Operational Ontology for Radiation Oncology. He serves on the Institutional Review Board for the Keck School of Medicine, Radiation Safety Committee for Keck Medical Center, and as Physician Liaison for the USC Healthcare Compliance Committee.
