Patrick Crispen is the Director of Educational Technology for the University of Southern California's (USC) Keck School of Medicine where he also holds a faculty appointment as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medical Education. He is also an Assistant Professor (adjunct) in USC's Rossier School of Education where he teaches face-to-face and online masters- and doctoral-level education classes.

Between 2009 and 2014, Crispen served as a manager in USC's Information Technology Services where he managed USC's enterprise-level learning management system and ancillary course technologies budgeting, staffing, and support services. Crispen has 25 years of experience in the field of educational technology and has assisted higher education institutions, K-12 schools and districts, state departments of education, regional and national educational consortia, and corporations with the creation and deployment of effective academic technology methodology and curriculum. Crispen has also authored four titles for the online training library and has co-authored two classroom technology textbooks.

Crispen received a doctorate in educational leadership from USC in 2010, a masters degree in educational technology (online) from Pepperdine University in 2001, and a bachelors degree in economics from the University of Alabama in 1998. Crispen's research focus is the creation of enterprise-level evaluative frameworks to align existing educational technologies with the pedagogical needs of research-intensive higher education institutions.
