Overview

Shubha Kumar, Ph.D., M.P.H., is Associate Professor of Clinical Population and Public Health Sciences (PPHS) and Associate Vice Provost for Online Education at USC. She also serves as the Director of Online Program Initiatives in PPHS and formerly served as the Founding Director of the Master of Public Health Online Program and Director of Education at the USC Institute on Inequalities in Global Health. Her professional and research interests include management and leadership in global health and development, program planning & evaluation, health systems strengthening, and best practices in knowledge transfer and health education. She has successfully led the design and oversight of several programs in higher education, healthcare, disaster relief, as well as launched an international humanitarian NGO for which she was the Chief Operating Officer. She is most well-known for her expertise in impact evaluation of global health and development interventions, particularly Social Return on Investment (SROI) Analysis. She has lectured and consulted nationally and internationally, as well as developed the first distance education module on SROI. Dr. Kumar earned her B.S. in Biology, and M.P.H. and Ph.D. in Healthcare Management & Policy from the University of California Los Angeles.
