She prioritizes compassionate, patient-centered care, ensuring that each treatment plan is tailored to address the distinct needs of each individual. Dr. Fung’s approach to medicine is rooted in fostering long-term collaborative relationships with her patients, empowering them to make well-informed decisions about their health. She is privileged to care for multiple generations of families while simultaneously contributing to the broader community through outreach and health education initiatives. Delighted to return home to Los Angeles, Dr. Fung is honored to join USC, where she can give back to the community that sparked her passion to pursue medicine.

Outside of the clinical world, Dr. Fung enjoys immersing herself in nature, spending quality time with loved ones, paddleboarding, traveling, exploring new culinary experiences, and pursuing her creative interests in oil painting.

Israel Garcia, MD (He/Him) is a resident family physician at the Keck Family Medicine Residency Program and a first-generation Salvadoran American from Whittier, California. He is deeply committed to serving underrepresented and historically marginalized communities across Los Angeles, with particular interests in LGBTQ+ medicine, reproductive justice, and health equity. He earned his Bachelor of Science in neuroscience from the University of California, Riverside, where he was involved in research on developmental psychology and mindfulness. He later earned his MD from St. George’s University School of Medicine, where he led and co-authored several research efforts focused on cardiovascular outcomes and chronic disease. His work has also been published in academic, peer-reviewed journals. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Dr. Garcia values culturally responsive, and patient-centered care. He has participated in international medical missions to El Salvador and Cambodia, providing clinical care, health education, and emergency response training in resource-limited settings. Dr. Garcia also serves as an American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) Advocacy Delegate Ambassador. Outside of medicine, Dr. Garcia enjoys traveling, cooking, painting, scuba diving, and engaging in ecological conservation. He is dedicated to providing full-spectrum, evidence-based care that reflects the diverse needs of the communities he serves.

Jun Kyoung, MD (he/him) is a resident physician Keck Medicine Family Medicine Residency Program.

He was born in Seoul, Korea and immigrated to the United States when he was 6 years old. He grew up in Koreatown in Los Angeles before relocating to Valencia, then later San Diego to complete his undergraduate degrees in Physiology & Neuroscience and Ethnic Studies at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Kyoung then completed medical school at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences, where he was heavily involved with volunteering at and the management of the local student-run free clinic, which served thousands of patients every year at no cost, regardless of insurance status. Through this community-based resource, he was able to work with student and provider volunteers to not only help address food insecurity, mental wellbeing, and registering for Medicaid, but also provide consistent continuity of care, treatment, and a source of community and support to those that otherwise would have slipped through the cracks of our imperfect healthcare system.

Dr. Kyoung is excited to return to Los Angeles and serve the communities that he grew up with. He is committed to endorsing equity in the healthcare system and, as a family medicine physician, he truly believes in the values of preventative medicine, continuity of care, and managing the patient as a whole. His interests include community medicine, addiction medicine, integrative medicine, and lifestyle medicine. In his free time, he enjoys exploring all the great food that Los Angeles has to offer, watching and attending Dodgers games, long walks with his fiancée, jamming out to musicals, and taking an unnecessary number of photos of his two cats.

Caryssa Lim Chang, MD, MPH is a resident physician at the Keck Medicine Family Medicine Residency Program. She was born and raised in Los Angeles and is now a proud resident of the San Gabriel Valley. She went to the University of Chicago for her undergraduate studies in Biology and Human Rights (BA ’16) and went on to pursue a Master of Public Health in Community Health Sciences from the University of California Los Angeles (MPH ’18).

Early in her life and her training, Caryssa became deeply aware of the power of communities. She saw how her own immigrant faith community protected older adults against loneliness and isolation, housed their unhoused neighbors and friends, and advocated for undocumented members of the congregation. These life experiences gave rise to her love and pursuit of community health and advocacy, as well as community-led research initiatives.

As a family physician, Caryssa believes firmly that medicine is an act of individual compassion and a tool for social justice. To best serve patients from diverse backgrounds, he emphasizes building relationships, partnering with community organizations, and understanding how social and lifestyle factors influence health.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Veith loves writing and playing music, traveling with his wife and Jindo pup, hiking, and catching up with friends over a game or a good meal.

["post-84","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry

Our Residents - Department of Family Medicine

{"@context":"https://schema.org","@graph":[{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://keck.usc.edu/family-medicine/training-education/residency-program/our-residents/","url":"https://keck.usc.edu/family-medicine/training-education/residency-program/our-residents/","name":"Our Residents - Department of Family Medicine","isPartOf":{"@id":"https://keck.usc.edu/family-medicine/#website"},"datePublished":"2023-08-23T23:29:35+00:00","dateModified":"2025-06-30T17:04:46+00:00","breadcrumb":{"@id":"https://keck.usc.edu/family-medicine/training-education/residency-program/our-residents/#breadcrumb"},"inLanguage":"en-US","potentialAction":[{"@type":"ReadAction","target":["https://keck.usc.edu/family-medicine/training-education/residency-program/our-residents/"]}]},{"@type":"BreadcrumbList","@id":"https://keck.usc.edu/family-medicine/training-education/residency-program/our-residents/#breadcrumb","itemListElement":[{"@type":"ListItem","position":1,"name":"Home","item":"https://keck.usc.edu/family-medicine/"},{"@type":"ListItem","position":2,"name":"Training &
