Class of 2029

AAMC Leadership Opportunity: CO2029 Representative

August 29, 2025
OSR rep 2029

Dear Class of 2029,

The Keck School of Medicine selects a student representative from each class to be part of the American Association of Medical Colleges Organization of Student Representative (OSR). We are excited to announce that the application for the Class of 2029 Representative is now open!

The OSRs represent the Keck School of Medicine on a local, regional, and national level. OSRs are required to attend a national meeting in November and/or a regional meeting in April/May each year. Once selected for the position, it is expected that the student will continue in the position until graduation. A brief description of the duties and responsibilities of the position are listed below.

  • The OSR is the student branch of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). The AAMC supports the entire spectrum of education, research, and patient care activities at medical schools in the United States and Canada.
  • The OSR is charged with the representation of the undergraduate medical student body of the U.S. to the academic medicine community; the OSR’s constituency comprises all medical students. The concerns of the OSR lie exclusively within academic medicine and medical education.
  • As an OSR, your role is two-fold. First, you communicate the opinions and concerns of the Keck student body to the national officers so that the OSR can effectively represent medical students on a national level.
  • Secondly, you take OSR national priorities and objectives from your colleagues at the national level and implement them at Keck.

The Keck School of Medicine expects the highest level of commitment from the OSRs, so it is highly recommended that you attend the AAMC OSR Information Session on Friday, September 19 at noon in Mayer Auditorium to ensure that you have a full understanding of the expectations of the position and to learn more about this leadership and advocacy opportunity. Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP for the session here.

This year’s AAMC meeting will be held in San Antonio, Texas from November 1-5 and it is expected that the first year OSR attends. Conference attendance will be supported by KSOM. If you are interested, please complete the OSR Application and email your CV to Drs. Harlan and Rose no later than Saturday, September 27 at 11:59pm. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact one of our current OSRs or the Student Affairs Deans. Thank you!
