The Center for Bioethics at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles invites you to attend our upcoming Ethics Grand Rounds:

“Walking the Journey: Supporting parents who can’t make a decision for their seriously ill child” with Vanessa Madrigal, MD, MSCE, HEC-C,

Dr. Madrigal is an Associate Professor and attending in the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Children’s National Hospital and George Washington University in Washington, DC, where she is also the director of the Ethics Program and Chair of the Pediatric Clinical Ethics Committee. Dr. Madrigal is board-certified in Pediatric Critical Care medicine and General Pediatrics. She completed her medical degree at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, OH, her Pediatric Residency at Miami Children’s in Miami, FL, and her Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in Philadelphia, PA. In 2017, she completed a Master of Science Degree in Clinical Epidemiology with a Bioethics concentration from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA, and a Pediatric Bioethics Certificate Program in 2019 from Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO. She earned Healthcare Ethics Consultant Certification (HEC-C) in 2020. Her research interests include shared decision-making, supporting families in decision-making, chronic critical illness and long-stay patients, clinical ethics, and staff support for moral distress.
