Updates:

First of all, MANY of you have expressed angst that you are not yet certain of your specialty. That is absolutely okay. Keep working towards your most likely choice until another specialty pulls you sufficiently to change direction. MANY students are undecided at this point. You can get to ANY specialty with any of the post-clerkship track and each one has its pros/cons. Do not worry too much about this placement. Just submit your most likely top specialty at this point in the survey or note that you are undecided.

As we discussed, spend time reviewing the Careers in Medicine resources to help gauge your interests, values, and gifts. A copy of the Specialty Elective Guides is at the bottom of this email. (Note, minor updates to these will occur in Dec)

In December and January we will begin advising meetings. The specialty advisors will be your best resource regarding scheduling recommendations and your preparation for residency applications (away rotations, research mentorship, etc).
