Emory IHI Open School 5th Annual Case Competition

January 30, 2026

The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Emory Chapter is excited to announce its fifth-annual Case Competition! Compete against the brightest minds from universities across the United States to develop innovative proposals to address a real-world healthcare problem. This event allows you to put your healthcare knowledge into practice and network with some of the nation’s leading experts in healthcare delivery and systems science while competing for a cash prize pool of $9,000.

Last year, Emory IHI hosted over 95 teams – comprised of over 380 individuals – in an interdisciplinary competition focused on developing novel solutions for disaster preparedness. This year’s prompt is poised to be yet another launchpad for creative, cross-sector solutions to real-world clinical challenges.

Sign up as a pre-formed team or as an individual to be placed on a team. Teams must consist of 3-5 students representing 2+ different degree programs (e.g., MD, MPH, MBA, PhD, etc.) or majors (e.g. one BME and 2 CS majors).

Sign ups are open through February 27 at 11:59pm ET. The prompt will drop to teams on March 9.

Please see the following links and attached flyer for more information and feel free to reach out to our team if you have any questions ([email protected]).
