Parking Updates – Summer 2026 (USC Transportation)

PERMIT SALES
Summer 2026 parking permit sales began online on May 5; there are a number of changes to the rules and processes that you should familiarize yourself with, as we are changing our technology backbone over the summer. Unfortunately, student billing is NOT a payment option for the summer semester; only bank drafts and credit card payments are available. For those who like to plan ahead, Fall 2026 permit sales will be available online in early July; please monitor the same page linked to above for complete details when they are available.

 

USC LYFT PROGRAM
The USC Lyft program will continue over the summer; if you are enrolled in the summer term, you will have access to the Summer Lyft program, which starts Monday, May 18. If you are enrolled for summer and do not have access, please complete the application form on the webpage below.

All normal geofence rules still apply during summer; program hours for summer are from 8pm-2am seven days a week at UPC, and from 5pm-2am M-F only at HSC. Complete details are available online here: https://transnet.usc.edu/index.php/how-to-use-lyft/

 

LA METRO U-PASS PROGRAM
The Summer 2026 U-Pass program dates are from May 18-August 23, but you can get started now! You can read all about it (and watch a video tutorial!) on our U-Pass page, here: https://transnet.usc.edu/index.php/student-u-pass/

The most important reminders are:

  • the entire process is automated
  • you need to have a physical card issued by USC to start the process
  • there are both a USC form and an LA Metro form to complete
  • once you complete both forms and get the LA Metro confirmation, wait 24 hours, and then tap your card at any train or bus station to lock in the summer product. Almost all issues related to the program are because students do NOT tap their card in the two-week window to do so.
