Stimulating Collaborations

The mission of the MESH Academy at USC is to empower the convergence of medicine, engineering, sciences, and humanities, and one of the best ways to do that is to encourage the formation of strong interdisciplinary research teams.  MESH will accomplish that in several ways:

Seminars and Events on “Team Science”

  • In collaboration with the Southern California Clinical and Translational Science Institute (SC CTSI), these events include education for graduate students, postdocs, and junior faculty on how to form strong collaborations, resolve issues with collaborators, and maintain high-functioning teams.

Interdisciplinary Seminars and Symposia

  • MESH hosts one to two interdisciplinary symposia each year, on a rotating theme. These events offer the opportunity for biologists, chemists, engineers, mathematicians, businessmen and women, physicians, and artists to come together and exchange ideas and research on a theme.  This year, the theme is stem cells, in collaboration with USC Stem Cell.  For upcoming events, see the Events

  • In collaboration with the USC HEAL (Humanities, Ethics/Economics, Art, and the Law) Program, MESH co-hosts seminars that explore the intersection of the humanities and medicine. For upcoming events, see the Events
