Applications open for minority students summer programs

Public Health Sciences at USC is proud to take part in distinguished summer programs offered by Keck School of Medicine. SPIDOR and Bridging the Gaps are geared toward minority students interested in public health sciences and clinical sciences. Details on each program can be found below, and those interested are encouraged to apply.

SPIDOR is a 10-week NIH/NIDDK funded summer research experience providing outstanding underrepresented students in science and medicine an opportunity to gain meaningful exposure to the exceptional research and clinical programs at the Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) of USC. Summer scholars will conduct cutting-edge research in the laboratories of faculty members from the USC Diabetes and Obesity Research Institute (DORI) and will exposed to basic science, translational, and clinical research experiences. The summer session culminates with students presenting their research findings to the KSOM community at large.

Bridging the Gaps

The Keck School of Medicine’s Bridging the Gaps Summer Research Program will provide an opportunity to outstanding minority students to gain meaningful exposure to the exceptional research and clinical programs at the Keck School of Medicine.
The program’s aim is to address the under-representation of minority students within medicine and the biological sciences. The ultimate goal is that the majority of these students will want to pursue their medical or graduate studies in the biological sciences at the Keck School of Medicine of USC.
