Faculty, Pandemic Research Center honored at LABJ’s Health Care Leadership Panel & Awards

Several faculty members at the Keck School of Medicine were honored at the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2021 Health Care Leadership Panel & Awards virtual event on Aug. 18. 

Ali Gholamrezanezhad, MD, assistant professor of clinical radiology and a clinical emergency radiologist with Keck Medicine, was named a finalist in the category of Outstanding Health Care Innovator. Neha Nanda, MD, clinical associate professor of medicine and medical director of infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship with Keck Medicine, was nominated in the category of Hospital Executive of the Year. Armand Dorian, MD, MMM, associate professor of clinical emergency medicine, and Keck Medicine colleagues were nominated in the category of Outstanding Community Outreach.

The Keck School’s Department of Population and Public Health Sciences also was named a finalist in three categories for the work of its COVID-19 Pandemic Research Center:

  • Outstanding Community Outreach for the “Stay Connected Los Angeles” vaccination campaign, led by Lourdes Baezconde-Gabanati, PhD, MPH, Associate Dean for Community Initiatives. 
  • Top Covid-19 Research Organization. The top award went to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles
  • Outstanding Collaboration, along with the Keck School; Los Angeles County Department of Public Health; USC Sol Price School of Public Policy; and the USC Leonard D. Schaeffer Center for Health Policy & Economics, for launching a study that will follow up to 3,000 county residents over time to better understand social inequities exposed by COVID-19 as well as other impacts of the pandemic.

CHLA was named a finalist for both Top Hospital or Medical Center of the Year, and Educational or Institutional Program of the Year. 

The L.A. Business Journal Health Care Leadership awards is an annual event honoring outstanding individuals and organizations in the field of health care in Los Angeles.
