We are pleased to share that the Keck School of Medicine of USC’s Kidney Research Center was recently named the Vito M. Campese, MD/UKRO Kidney Research Center of USC. Dr. Campese is an international leader in nephrology and an (almost!) lifelong Trojan—his career at USC spans 50 years—who led a team of accomplished researchers as division chief from 2000-15.

Janos Peti-Peterdi, MD, PhD, the Center’s new director, brings the experience and ambition needed to build on the strong foundation laid by outgoing director Kenneth Hallows, MD, PhD. Dr. Peti-Peterdi is professor and acting vice chair of physiology and neuroscience, and medicine at USC. His research, focused on kidney and cardiovascular physiology and disease pathobiology, has received uninterrupted National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding for more than two decades. His achievements in the field have been recognized through multiple appointments, including serving as chair of the NIH PathoBiology of Kidney Disease Study Section. He is a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation and the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.
