USC Student Mona Bandov awarded scholarship from the American Statistical Association

Mona Bandov, a graduate student in the Department of Population and Public Health Sciences at Keck School of Medicine of USC, is the recipient of the Norman Beery Memorial Scholarship from the American Statistical Association. The competitive $3,000 scholarship is awarded to first-generation college students enrolled in statistics, biostatistics, or science programs that incorporate statistics. Bandov is enrolled in the Master of Science in Public Health Data Science program, and is pursuing a career as a data scientist to addresss challenging public health issues. 

“There aren’t many master’s programs in public health data science— but this program combines public health, data science, statistics, and machine learning,” says Bandov. “I chose USC because I found that the coursework here aligns with what I want to do in my career which is to transform data into health equity.”
