The 25th<\/sup> annual Max R. Gaspar, MD, Symposium will take place Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, starting at 7:45 am. Every year the Gaspar Symposium explores a different topic, one chosen to be of interest to medical professionals at every level.<\/p>\n

This year, the topic is Current Trends in Hemodialysis Access. Fred Weaver, MD, MMM, chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery, will kick off the conference with a course overview and a tribute to Dr. Gaspar, who served as an attending surgeon at Los Angeles County Hospital for more than 50 years, and as a Senior Vascular Attending Surgeon for more than 25 years.<\/p>\n

Vincent Rowe, MD, will moderate four sessions exploring current challenges and theories of hemodialysis access, and the first half of the day will conclude with a lecture from Gaspar Visiting Professor Karl A. Illig, MD, Director of the FLOW Vascular Institute in Houston TX.<\/p>\n

Contributing speakers include the faculty of the Division of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy at the Keck School of Medicine of USC and guest speakers from across the country.<\/p>\n

The program is presented by Division of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy in concert with the USC Office of Continuing Medical Education, and participants are eligible for CME credit.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s conference is entirely virtual, which has the advantage of opening it up to an unusually wide audience. All interested medical professionals are encouraged to attend. Registration is available the morning of the conference only, up until 9am.
