On Wednesday, January 29, the Keck School of Medicine of USC Family Medicine Department held its 3rd Annual Family Medicine Research Day, bringing together faculty, residents, and students to celebrate scholarship, collaboration, and innovation. Dr. Robinson opened the event, encouraging attendees to fully engage and connect, highlighting the department\u2019s core values of joy and community.<\/p>\n

The event, guided by the planning committee, featured Dr. Ko, the newly appointed vice chair of research, who shared her insights and experience, emphasizing the importance of fostering a culture of inquiry in family medicine.<\/p>\n

Exciting new initiatives at USC were unveiled, including the Resource Office for Clinical Scholarship, a central hub for research training, mentorship, and collaboration. This initiative will offer monthly webinars, an online repository of resources, and facilitated \u201caffinity groups\u201d for clinical faculty and residents. Audience members provided valuable feedback on topics of interest to further tailor these offerings.<\/p>\n

A panel discussion explored how family medicine integrates scholarship, aligning with ACGME requirements that mandate scholarly engagement. Presenters from various programs shared their strategies for success, demonstrating how research strengthens patient care and medical education.<\/p>\n

The afternoon featured a student and resident research showcase, where participants presented findings from their clinical practice. Adding a creative dimension, a reflective writing and narrative medicine workshop invited attendees to explore the intersection of humanities and medicine.<\/p>\n

The day concluded with a poster session and networking event, providing a space for attendees to exchange ideas, celebrate achievements, and build future collaborations. With a renewed commitment to scholarship, the Family Medicine Department looks forward to continued growth and innovation in the coming years.<\/p>\n
