Fellowship Program
The fellowship programs within the USC Roski Eye Institute provide unique opportunities for residents who have completed their training to obtain advanced fellowship training in various subspecialties under leading experts in their respective fields.
The fellowship experience spans three institutions: the USC Roski Eye Institute at Keck Medical Center of USC, CHLA, and
Los Angeles General Medical Center . In addition to working with their clinical and academic mentors, our fellows have the opportunity to run their own clinics and lead resident teaching rounds. The experience at Los Angeles General Medical Center provides a plethora of challenging cases that are directly seen by our fellows. Fellows are given unprecedented responsibility in caring for the needs of patients at Los Angeles General Medical Center as well as providing supervision of residents in both clinical and surgical settings. This provides an opportunity to build autonomy, confidence, and expertise while still in training.
There are six clinical fellowship opportunities available each year.
- Cornea, External Disease & Refractive Surgery (AUPO FCC compliant)
- Glaucoma (AUPO FCC compliant)
- Adult and Pediatric Neuro-Ophthalmology & Strabismus Surger (AUPO FCC compliant)
- Orbit and Oculofacial Plastic Surgery Fellowship (ASOPRS approved)
- Vitreoretinal Disease and Surgery (AUPO FCC compliant)
- Pediatric Ophthalmology at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles
In addition to the clinical fellowships, there are several research fellowships available for those who would like to pursue greater academic training in subspecialty areas of ophthalmology. The USC Provost’s Post-Doctoral Scholars Program provides a unique opportunity for senior residents and fellows to obtain further training and certification tailored to their interests, while pursuing their training. This allows the interested individual to obtain valuable experience and growth in academic medicine, supported by the university, concurrent to their primary training program.
