Our goal is to offer fellows a broad clinical experience in the operative and nonoperative management of athletic injuries of the shoulder, knee, elbow, hip and foot\/ankle and on-the-field management of competitive athletes<\/p>\n<p>The fellow will have broad exposure to sports medicine to learn both conservative treatment and cutting-edge surgical treatment of sports injuries, gaining experience in:<\/p>\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse; width: 100%;\" border=\"1\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 50%;\">\n<ul>\n<li>AC joint reconstruction<\/li>\n<li>Arthroscopic and open-shoulder instability surgery<\/li>\n<li>Arthroscopic rotator-cuff repair<\/li>\n<li>Cartilage restoration<\/li>\n<li>Elbow arthroscopy<\/li>\n<li>Hip arthroscopy<\/li>\n<li>Knee arthroscopy<\/li>\n<li>Knee osteotomy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 50%;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Meniscus transplantation<\/li>\n<li>Multiligament knee injury<\/li>\n<li>Primary and revision ACL surgery<\/li>\n<li>Shoulder and elbow fractures<\/li>\n<li>Shoulder arthroscopy<\/li>\n<li>Shoulder replacement: total, reverse and revision<\/li>\n<li>Sports foot\/ankle surgery<\/li>\n<li>Ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>A critical aspect of our fellowship is the opportunity to provide physician team coverage to USC Trojans intercollegiate athletes, a group of more than 700 world-class athletes encompassing 21 varsity sports. Fellows work closely with faculty and an excellent team of athletic trainers led by Russ Romano, ATC, head athletic trainer. Fellows will learn cutting-edge rehabilitation protocols and return-to-sport pathways at the John McKay Center on the USC University Park Campus.<\/p>\n<p>The fellowship also includes team coverage responsibility for the Los Angeles Kings (NHL) team and provides exposure to the state-of-the-art rehabilitation and biomechanics program at the Toyota Sports Performance Center<\/p>\n<p>A formal education component consists of weekly conferences, didactic teaching, and MRI correlation conference. We fill both positions via the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfmatch.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">San Francisco Matching Program (SF Match)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The USC Sports Medicine Fellowship program abides by all of the policies set by the\u00a0<strong>SF Match\u00a0<\/strong>and by the\u00a0<strong>AOSSM\u00a0<\/strong>regarding fellowship selection.<\/p>\n<p>Applications are due each year on Nov. 1.
