Occasionally, residents choose anatomic pathology (AP) alone but most complete an integrated AP\/Clinical pathology (CP) program.AP and CP rotations are intermixed throughout the 4 years of training at various institutions including Los Angeles General Medical Center, USC Keck\/Norris University Hospital, Children\u2019s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), and Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.<\/p>\n<p>Research is strongly encouraged with numerous, available research projects in various fields. Medical student teaching is also encouraged at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Average Annual Case Numbers<\/strong><br \/>\nLos Angeles General Medical Center Surgical Pathology: 13,000<br \/>\nLos Angeles General Medical Center Gynecologic Pathology: 6,000<br \/>\nKeck Surgical Pathology: 14,500<\/p>\n<p><strong>Resident AP\/CP program<\/strong><br \/>\n27 months of AP, 19 months of CP<br \/>\nThe AP\/CP program provides early exposure to all fields of pathology, 2 months of elective, and up to 4 weeks for vacation or additional elective per academic year.
