Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine
About the Division
The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine within the Department of Emergency Medicine is focused on the emergency care of children. The division focuses on education, policy and research into potentially emergent medical conditions affecting primarily the pediatric population. Our faculty has a variety of backgrounds including dual residency in pediatrics and emergency medicine, emergency medicine training with pediatrics fellowship, and pediatrics training with emergency medicine fellowship. Clinical care is delivered in one of the five pods of the main emergency department with 14 bed spaces devoted to the care of patients 21 years of age or under. Our expert physicians see approximately 25,000 such patients per year, including pediatric trauma patients. There is a pediatric ward and PICU available for admission.
