Faculty and students in the Department of Pediatrics care for the diverse children of Los Angeles and lead groundbreaking pediatric research.

Five of our faculty were elected to the Society for Pediatric Research (SPR) and all five of our nominees were elected to the American Pediatric Society (APS) in 2015.

In 2014, pediatric resident Jonathan Brigham, MD, won the CHLA Patient Safety Award, the first time a resident has received the honor. Brigham is active in the Situation Awareness Program, which identifies patients at risk for deterioration and mitigation, and in the Speak Out for Safety (SOS) program, designed to create a culture of safety and a standardized system of addressing patient safety concerns.
