Keck School of Medicine of USC Psychiatry Residency Program

The Keck School of Medicine of USC Psychiatry Residency program aims to create future psychiatry physician-scholars and leaders through learning, practice, and discovery. Our comprehensive curriculum is designed to integrate robust clinical training founded in academic scholarship and leadership development. Residents will engage in diverse clinical experiences through access to varied settings and patient populations. Residents will train within USC Arcadia Hospital, USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, Keck Hospital of USC, and the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System.

Salaries correspond with Post Graduate Year and completed years of training and appointment of residency position. All residents will be members of the CIR-SEIU union. Salary and benefits are subject to change based on any collective bargaining agreement between the parties. Residents are paid monthly. The 2024-2025 annual pretax salaries are:

Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) of USC is located in the heart of Los Angeles, a culturally rich metropolitan city, and is close to both beach and mountains with wonderful outdoor recreation opportunities.  The mild temperatures along with the city’s average of 329 days of sun per year makes Los Angeles a wonderful city to live and work. The program has a focus on nurturing well-being through mental health resources and wellness-supporting policies and curriculum, professional development, team building and peer-support activities, and annual residency retreats.

The Psychiatry Residency Program annually accepts applications for 12 PGY-1 positions. Our program will not be accepting candidates with prior residency training. We are unable to sponsor visas.

All prospective applicants wishing to apply to our program must apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Our requirements for application include:
