  • Project Period: Two years

 

Proposed research must address one of the following priority areas:

  1. Spontaneous Preterm Birth: Research should focus on the prevention, diagnosis, or treatment of conditions leading to spontaneous preterm birth, with the potential to improve clinical care and reduce adverse maternal and infant outcomes.
  2. Cardiovascular Health During Pregnancy: Research should address cardiovascular conditions that arise, develop, or worsen during pregnancy and identify practical approaches to characterize, prevent, and/or mitigate these conditions.

 Open to health professionals, clinical and basic science researchers, epidemiologists, and social scientists with doctoral-level degrees who hold faculty appointments or equivalent positions.

All proposed studies must have the potential to improve clinical care and reduce maternal and infant morbidity and mortality.

  • Studies may examine any stage from pregnancy through labor and delivery to one year postpartum.
  • Human studies, studies using human tissues, and population-based research are eligible.
  • Model systems research is discouraged but may be included when used to validate novel human disease mechanisms identified in humans.
  • Proposals may incorporate information and communication technology (ICT) innovations.
  • Multidisciplinary collaborations, including partnerships with community-based organizations, are strongly encouraged.
