• Project Period: Two years

Supports basic, translational, clinical, and epidemiology/data analysis research that will benefit patients with autosomal dominant and autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD and ARPKD).

The PKD Foundation encourages proposals in the following topic areas:

• Autosomal Recessive PKD (ARPKD)
• ADPKD in children
• The role of cilia signaling in cyst development
• Drug delivery mechanisms
• Epidemiology/data analysis (e.g., using existing datasets)
• Extra-renal manifestations of PKD, including but not limited to congenital hepatic fibrosis, polycystic liver disease, and intracranial aneurysms
• AD/ARPKD protein dosage or gene therapies
• Innovative approaches to machine learning
• Lifestyle interventions (e.g., in dietary habits)

Applicants must hold an M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent degree at the time of the award; have no more than five years of postdoctoral research experience (excluding clinical training) since completing their M.D. or Ph.D.; not hold a primary faculty appointment; conduct their research under the supervision of a primary mentor or mentoring team; not concurrently hold another full fellowship, training, or career development award (although institutional supplemental support is permitted); and devote at least 75% of their effort to research and training throughout the fellowship period.

Applicants with existing funding from other sources (on which they are in the role of the lead investigator) will not be eligible to apply for this award, although internal institutional supplemental support is acceptable.
