<\/h2>\n\n\n<\/div>\n      \n                  \n<div class=\"f--field f--description description-medium\">\n\n    \n  <p>The Department of Cancer Biology at the Keck School of Medicine offers a Master of Science (MS) degree in Translational Biotechnology. This program combines a unique curriculum and distinctive practical training that exposes students to biotechnology and its applications in translating genomic and molecular insights into developing novel therapies and precision medicine. It is designed to enable USC students to begin taking master\u2019s level courses while completing bachelor\u2019s degree requirements.<\/p>\n<p>A minimum of 28 units of graduate level course and field work is required for graduation. The program can be completed by full-time students in 1 year including the summer semester or at a reduced pace by part-time students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n  <\/div>\n\n\n  <\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n  \n    \n\n\n\n\n\n\n<div\n  class=\"cc--component-container cc--accordions  advgb-dyn-d41d8cd9\"\n\n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  >\n  <div class=\"c--component c--accordions\"\n    \n      >\n\n    \n      <div class=\"header-container\">\n\n                  \n<div class=\"f--field f--section-title\">\n\n    \n  <h2>\n          Progressive Degree Information\n      <\/h2>\n\n\n<\/div>\n      \n                  \n<div class=\"f--field f--description description-large\">\n\n    \n  <p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" dir=\"ltr\">The PDP allows you to begin working toward your master&#8217;s degree while you finish your bachelor&#8217;s. Unlike the standard graduate admissions track, the PDP application is handled entirely by email.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Eligibility:<\/strong> To apply, you must have earned a minimum of <strong>64 units<\/strong>, excluding any units earned before high school graduation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" dir=\"ltr\">Once eligible, please prepare the following four documents:<\/p>\n<ol class=\"[li_&amp;]:mb-0 [li_&amp;]:mt-1 [li_&amp;]:gap-1 [&amp;:not(:last-child)_ul]:pb-1 [&amp;:not(:last-child)_ol]:pb-1 list-decimal flex flex-col gap-1 pl-8 mb-3 print:block print:space-y-1\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<li class=\"font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\"><strong>PDP plan<\/strong> \u2014 Complete the Progressive Master&#8217;s Degree Program Course Plan using the template provided (attached). This lays out the courses you intend to take and how they count toward the degree. When selecting courses, keep in mind that each course is offered only in specific terms \u2014 check the registration calendar to confirm a course is offered in the semester you plan to take it. The three experiential learning courses (TRGN 539, 540, and 541) are offered every semester: spring, summer, and fall.<\/li>\n<li class=\"font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\"><strong>Statement of purpose<\/strong> \u2014 A <strong>one-page<\/strong> personal statement describing your background, your academic and career goals, and your reasons for pursuing the MS in Translational Biotechnology. There is no set template; write it in your own words.<\/li>\n<li class=\"font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\"><strong>Two letters of recommendation<\/strong> \u2014 preferably from USC faculty members. Please ask each recommender to email their letter <strong>directly to the Program Director, Tirzah Petta, at <a class=\"underline underline underline-offset-2 decoration-1 decoration-current\/40 hover:decoration-current focus:decoration-current\" href=\"mailto:tirzah.petta@usc.edu\">tirzah.petta@usc.edu<\/a><\/strong>.
