Michael Bottros, MD, Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Medical Director of Pain Services at Keck School of Medicine of USC, is a nationally recognized leader in the field of acute and chronic pain management. He founded the Acute Pain Service at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis in 2013, which rapidly became an essential component of perioperative care for thousands of patients annually.

For his outstanding work in education, Dr. Bottros has received awards including the Department of Anesthesiology Teacher of the Year Award and Department of Surgery “Friend of the Surgery Resident Award”. He’s published numerous peer-reviewed, scientific papers in the fields of Pain Medicine and Anesthesiology, and has been invited to speak at over 100 local, national, and international conferences.

His clinical interests include treating occipital neuralgia, cervicogenic headache, neck pain, low back pain, failed back surgery syndrome, neuropathy, complex regional pain syndrome, and chronic post-surgery pain. His advanced skill set includes the use of ultrasound, radiofrequency ablation, spinal cord stimulation, and vertebral augmentation in treating pain, exhibiting a unique dedication to using the full scope of multimodal, interdisciplinary pain management to provide personalized, effective care.
