World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

Elder abuse affects one in 10 older adults each year, yet it remains widely underrecognized. World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD), observed every June 15th, is a global call to action for elder abuse prevention and elder justice. The National Center on Elder Abuse (NCEA) at the Department of Family Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC offers ready-to-use awareness resources for professionals, students, and the public.
The NCEA also offers resources to support next generation of practitioners who will be working with older adults in the indicators of abuse and prevention strategies, including college and graduate students:
- What College Students Need to Know About Elder Abuse
- What Health Care Students Need to Know About Elder Abuse
- What Dental Students Need to Know About Elder Abuse
- What Clinical Psychology Students Need to Know About Elder Abuse
- What Public Health Students Need to Know About Elder Abuse
Join us in raising awareness and advancing intergenerational solidarity for elder justice this WEAAD and beyond.
Visit the NCEA website to access free resources and learn how to get involved.
